The team of individuals who participate in the prayer ministry is multi-faceted.  The work of the prayer team begins when someone makes a verbal request or when yellow cards are completed and dropped into the collection plate during morning services.  The most visible aspect of the team is the ones who meet each Sunday to pray for these requests.

The month-long responsibility of a prayer team member means the individual should attend the early worship and class, and then assemble to pray during the second service.  The team meets in the classroom just across the hall from the church office.  As second service begins, prayers are offered for those requests made during first service.  When the collection is complete from second service, those cards are retrieved and prayed for as well.  Additionally, the requests are sent via email Sunday p.m. or Monday a.m. for attention during the week.  Those receiving the email list include elders, the current prayer team, and some individuals who pray from home without meeting as a group.

The typical responsibility of a prayer team member includes a commitment of three months during the year, divided quarterly.  The best arrangement follows when one agrees to worship at the first assembly so he/she can be free to pray during the second.  All prayer requests are honored.  Team members are sensitive to the nature of the requests, being careful to respect confidentiality.

This particular structure of the prayer ministry has been in place for several years.  Many of the team members that have been involved since the reorganization, have enjoyed seeing the answered prayers.  Certainly, this is just one of the many organized prayer efforts of members of the College Church. 

There are four prayer groups at College Church meeting throughout the year. A prayer group meets each Sunday after the prayer cards have been turned in, to pray for all prayer requests. The prayer requests are then e-mailed to all of the elders and to that month’s prayer group, so that they can pray over these requests during the week.

·      Group I meets each Sunday in January, May and September

·      Group II meets each Sunday in February, June and October

·      Group III meets each Sunday in March, July, November

·      Group IV meets each Sunday in April, August and December
